If you want to get married and live permanently on the UK with your British citizen partner or you partner that is settled in the UK or an Irish citizen living in the UK, or an EEA national with settled status, the fiancée/fiancé visa is the route to take. This visa allows you to enter the UK to be married to your partner and then apply for a spouse visa, in-country.

The other routes allows you to enter and remain in the UK with your partner, parent, child or children. After 5 years, or 10 years, depending on which you qualify for, you would be able to apply for settlement.

These are categorised into long term visas: you can live and work in the UK for up to 9 years and can settle permanently and become a British Citizen.

Short-term work visas: Can stay in the UK for maximum period of 90 days in a calendar year, 6 months, 12 months or 2 years.

  3. Temporary Worker – Government Authorised Exchange visa (T5)
  4. Temporary Worker – International Agreement Worker visa (T5)

  7. Youth Mobility Scheme visa (T5)
  8. Graduate visa : This visa gives you permission to stay in the UK for at least 2 years after successfully completing a course in the UK.

  4. Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa: Though you can no longer enter the UK on this visa, if you are already in this route, you can extend and also apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (Settlement) if you qualify to do so.

After completing 3, 5 or 10 years in the UK, you may qualify to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK, otherwise known as Settlement.

You will need to have passed the knowledge of Life in the UK and meet the English language requirement. You also need to be of good character and meet the residency requirement.

Under some routes, if you have been outside the UK for a period of more than 180 days in any 12 months period, you would not qualify to apply for settlement.

1. Naturalisation

To apply for naturalisation, you must be 18 years and above and have lived in the UK for 5 years. You also need to have held indefinite leave to remain, that is, free from immigration control, in some cases, for 12 months and have not been outside the UK for more than 90 days within the 12 months before making the application. You also need to be of good character and not have any serious criminal convictions. You also need to meet the English Language requirement and have passed the Life in the UK test.

2. Registration

   a. Child under 18

Children under 18 years old can apply for registration if they qualify. There are various ways a child qualifies to register as a British citizen. Please contact info@akias.co.uk for further information

   b. UKM

This is for those born outside the UK before 1 January 1983 to British mothers. At that time British mothers could not pass on British citizenship to their children. Please contact info@akias.co.uk for further information

   c. UKF

This is for those born before 1 July 2006 to British mothers. At that time British mothers could not pass on British citizenship to their children. Please contact info@akias.co.uk for further information

 

3. Passport

You can apply for a first child or adult passport from outside the UK.
